WHATS ON?

Volunteering

Be part of the magic! Volunteering at the Carnegie couldn’t be easier. It’s a great way to support the work that we do and there are lots of ways you can help. From becoming an usher to distributing posters, our volunteers play a much valued role in the running of the venue.

For more information or to apply for any of our volunteer roles, please contact volunteer@carnegietheatre.co.uk or call 01900 602122.

Front of House Stewards

Our stewards are invaluable to us and our volunteers cover a range of duties, from taking tickets, selling ice creams and programmes to staffing the kiosk and helping people to their seats. Full training is given and new recruits are partnered with more experienced stewards. There is no upper age limit on becoming an usher however you should be at least 16 years of age. Anyone volunteering will need to consider the late finishing time and getting home safely after the show.

Box Office & Administration Volunteer

Be one of the welcoming faces of the Carnegie, manning the box office to take bookings and answer questions, and supporting with basic day-to-day admin. The post holder will assist with the delivery of a consistent, efficient, high quality box office service and the effective administration for operations across the organisation.

Maintenance Volunteer

We are looking for individuals to provide effective support to the Technical Manager in the delivery of a comprehensive maintenance plan across the building. Keeping this grade 2 building in great condition for years to come.

Poster Distribution

Many of our local shops and business display posters for us, perhaps you could help us by volunteering to distribute posters and flyers in your area. We would be especially interested to hear from people in the out lying towns and villages who would like to help distribute posters for us, as well as those of you based in Workington itself. It just takes a few minutes to do and generates lots of interest in the shows.

Volunteer Fundraiser

This is now one of the most exciting times in the Carnegie’s long history and there is much that we want to do to both restore the venue and ensure that it is fit for the future. We’re looking for motivated individuals to join our small team of hard working volunteers to support us fundraise both locally and nationally.

Volunteer Trustee

The Board of Trustees is collectively responsible for the continuing success and sustainability of the Carnegie Theatre Trust (CTT) in line with the mission, objectives and values set out our strategic plans. Trustees ensure that CTT has a clear strategy, and that its work and goals are in line with its vision. This is a hands-on role that is vital in ensuring the Carnegie becomes and remains the go-to creative and community hub of West Cumbria.
